乾隆 Qianlong Famille Rose Plate

|
A fine early 乾隆 Qianlong Chinese export famille rose plate
employing a multitude of the popular decorative patterns in the painter's
repertoire. Extending from the cavetto onto the rim a meandering
rococo scroll detailed in brilliant blue enamels with alternating diaper panels painted
in 'oeil-de-perdrix' (partridge eye) sometimes also referred to as 'le
sol d'oeufs de poisson' (fish roe ground) and a chrysanthemum cell diaper
design with further small pink and blue containers with peony blossom, lotus
blossom, and brown ruyi shaped baskets with lilies, each painted with an
alternating cell diaper pattern. A central jardinière of peonies, roses
and daisies supported on a ruyi-head footed stand painted in brilliant
enamels and bianco-sopra-bianco. The brown-washed outer rim has
a border of half-blossoms in profile alternating in iron red and white enamel
reserved against a
"rain and clouds" border of blue and lavender. |
